The plants are beautiful and all 13 were consistent in height and width. And at a fraction of the cost of other garden centers. Having the team that delivered them do the planting was one of the best values I can think of. They did a great job from start to finish and even helped me with my watering system which they didn’t have to do!

Astilbe chinesis 'Visions'
Choose Visions Astilbe if you need a compact shade perennial with midsummer purple color and tidy foliage. The tradeoff: it still wants steady moisture, so it is not the right pick for hot, dry, exposed beds.

- Your soil stays average to moist.
Skip This If

PGNE Report Card
| Category | Grade | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Landscape Impact | B+ | The flower plumes give shaded beds a clear midsummer color hit without taking over the planting. |
| Growth Rate | B | It establishes at a useful pace, but it is still a clumping perennial rather than a fast filler. |
| Maintenance | B | Keep the soil from getting too dry and remove spent flower stems if you want a neater look. |
| Deer Resistance | B+ | Deer tend to leave this alone, though hungry deer may sample it where pressure is heavy. |
| Small Space Fit | A | Its compact upright habit works well along paths, entries, and tight shade beds. |
| Screening Value | D | This is a color and texture perennial, not a plant for privacy or blocking views. |
Our Experience
At PGNE, we'd typically recommend Visions Astilbe in small groups, not as a single dot, so the flower color reads clearly in shade.

Customers Usually Ask
Will it handle dry shade?
Somewhat once established, but dry shade still limits flowering and leaf quality.
Should I cut the flowers off?
You can leave them for texture or cut them back for a cleaner look.
Does it work under trees?
Yes, if tree roots are not leaving the soil constantly dry.
