The plants are beautiful and all 13 were consistent in height and width. And at a fraction of the cost of other garden centers. Having the team that delivered them do the planting was one of the best values I can think of. They did a great job from start to finish and even helped me with my watering system which they didn’t have to do!

Spiraea x bumalda 'Magic Carpet'
Choose Magic Carpet Spirea for a sunny front bed where you want a tight, colorful mound without much height; the tradeoff is that it will not screen anything and needs sun to keep its foliage color strong.
Buy This If
- You want color below windows.
- You like neat mounded shrubs.
- The site gets strong sun.
Skip This If
- You need a privacy plant.
- The bed stays wet.
- Deer feed there regularly.
PGNE Report Card
| Category | Grade | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Landscape Impact | B+ | It gives strong foliage color near the ground, but it is not a focal-point shrub from a distance. |
| Growth Rate | B | It fills in at a practical pace without taking over the bed. |
| Maintenance | B | A light trim after flowering keeps it cleaner, though it is not a high-chore shrub. |
| Deer Resistance | B+ | Deer tend to leave this alone, though hungry deer may sample it where pressure is heavy. |
| Small Space Fit | A | Its low, compact habit makes it easy to place near walks, entries, and low windows. |
| Screening Value | F | It is too low and open in winter to provide useful screening. |
Our Experience
At PGNE, we'd typically recommend Magic Carpet Spirea for sunny bed edges and foundation fronts, not for shade, wet soil, or any spot where the customer really needs height.

A light trim after bloom is usually enough to keep the mound clean.
