The plants are beautiful and all 13 were consistent in height and width. And at a fraction of the cost of other garden centers. Having the team that delivered them do the planting was one of the best values I can think of. They did a great job from start to finish and even helped me with my watering system which they didn’t have to do!

PGNE Report Card
| Category | Grade | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Landscape Impact | B | It gives a soft northern-forest look, but the open habit is not as polished as denser evergreens. |
| Growth Rate | C | Balsam Fir is not the plant to buy when you need quick size or fast privacy. |
| Maintenance | B- | It does not need much shaping, but poor siting can create health problems. |
| Deer Resistance | A- | Deer rarely bother this tree; it is a dependable choice where deer are a concern, though young trunks can still be rubbed. |
| Small Space Fit | C+ | Its upright form helps, but it still needs breathing room and a compatible site. |
| Screening Value | C | The open structure and slower pace make it a weak pick for dependable privacy. |
Our Experience
At PGNE, we'd steer Balsam Fir toward protected sites first. If the planting area is exposed, hot, or dry, we would usually point you to a tougher evergreen instead.
