Oxydendrum arboreum
Choose Sourwood if you want a less common native accent tree with summer flowers and strong fall color. The tradeoff is site sensitivity: it needs acidic, undisturbed soil and will struggle where soil is compacted, dry, or high pH.

Not if the site is right, but it is picky about soil conditions.
It can produce noticeable hanging flower clusters, but fall color is usually the stronger reason to plant it.
Usually no; reflected heat, salt, and compacted soil are poor conditions for Sourwood.

The plants are beautiful and all 13 were consistent in height and width. And at a fraction of the cost of other garden centers. Having the team that delivered them do the planting was one of the best values I can think of. They did a great job from start to finish and even helped me with my watering system which they didn’t have to do!

Bought 8-10 ft and all were barely 8 if you count the container. Trees are thin and lots of brown branches and broken branches due you thrown in box truck no wrapping or anything. Hoping they survive and thicken up quick…
