The plants are beautiful and all 13 were consistent in height and width. And at a fraction of the cost of other garden centers. Having the team that delivered them do the planting was one of the best values I can think of. They did a great job from start to finish and even helped me with my watering system which they didn’t have to do!

Enkianthus campanulatus 'Showy Lanterns'
Choose Showy Lanterns Enkianthus if you want a refined part-shade accent with spring lantern flowers and strong fall color; the tradeoff is patience and site prep, because it is not a fast filler or a dry-bank shrub.

PGNE Report Card
| Category | Grade | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Landscape Impact | A- | It has a clean layered shape, spring flowers, and strong fall color without looking busy. |
| Growth Rate | B- | It builds steadily but will not give instant size, so buy for the long-term look. |
| Maintenance | B | It needs good soil moisture and light pruning at most once established. |
| Deer Resistance | B+ | Deer tend to leave this alone, though hungry deer may sample it where pressure is heavy. |
| Small Space Fit | B | It can work in tighter beds if you allow room for its natural layered outline. |
| Screening Value | C | It adds structure and seasonal cover, but it is deciduous and not built for privacy. |
Our Experience
At PGNE, we'd typically recommend this where the customer wants a special accent, not a utility shrub. Give it part shade, decent soil, mulch, and steady moisture while it settles in.

Customers Usually Ask
Is it showy from the street?
Not in a loud way; it is best appreciated closer up or along a walk.
Does it need pruning?
Very little; remove crossing or awkward branches after flowering if needed.
Will it handle full sun?
Morning sun is safer; hot afternoon sun can stress it in dry soil.
Why buy for fall color
- See the actual color before you buy it
- Foliage, berries and late bloom — all three seasons of interest
- Fall planting means roots established before winter
