Choose Red Sunset Red Maple if you want a dependable New England shade tree with strong red fall color and quicker canopy. The tradeoff: it needs real room overhead and around it, so don’t force it near the house, wires, or tight driveways.

That is the main reason to choose it over a seedling Red Maple.
It handles moisture better than many shade trees, but do not plant it in standing water.
Plan on leaf cleanup; spring flowers and seed drop are usually secondary issues.

The plants are beautiful and all 13 were consistent in height and width. And at a fraction of the cost of other garden centers.
