The plants are beautiful and all 13 were consistent in height and width. And at a fraction of the cost of other garden centers. Having the team that delivered them do the planting was one of the best values I can think of. They did a great job from start to finish and even helped me with my watering system which they didn’t have to do!

PGNE Report Card
| Category | Grade | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Landscape Impact | A- | The fragrant red flowers give this shrub a clear purpose when planted where people pass nearby. |
| Growth Rate | B | It grows at a steady moderate pace without acting like a fast filler. |
| Maintenance | B | It needs space more than heavy pruning, though occasional shaping after bloom keeps it controlled. |
| Deer Resistance | A- | Deer usually pass this by, since the foliage deters browsing, though no plant is completely immune where pressure is severe. |
| Small Space Fit | D | This shrub wants room to round out and will feel cramped in narrow beds. |
| Screening Value | B- | It can help soften views in season, but it is deciduous and not a dense year-round screen. |
Our Experience
At PGNE, we’d typically recommend Aphrodite Sweetshrub for a roomy border where the fragrance can be enjoyed up close, not tucked behind other shrubs where the flowers and scent get missed.
