Aronia melanocarpa

ow Scape Snowfire® is the heaviest-blooming member of the Low Scape® aronia (chokeberry) series, smothering itself in white spring flowers before delivering dark berries for birds and a blaze of red-to-burgundy fall color. Its tidy, low-mounded habit drops it neatly into the middle of a border, an informal low hedge, or a foundation planting where you want three-season interest without the upkeep. A true Northeast native, it shrugs off New Hampshire and Massachusetts winters and tolerates wet soil, dry soil, heat, drought, and road salt — about as bulletproof as a flowering shrub gets.

Key Features

  • Heavy flush of white spring flowers — the showiest bloomer in the Low Scape® lineup — buzzing with bees and butterflies
  • Glossy dark green summer foliage that ignites to vivid red and burgundy in fall
  • Dark blue-black berries in late summer that feed songbirds into winter
  • Compact, rounded mounding habit (3–4 ft) that needs little to no pruning
  • Native to the northeastern U.S.; genuine pollinator and wildlife value
  • Tough and adaptable: wet/dry soil, heat, drought, cold (hardy to Zone 3), and salt tolerant

Why Choose Shrubs for a Stronger Landscape?

  • Structure & Definition: Shrubs frame homes, define walkways, and create organized planting beds.
  • Privacy & Screening: Many varieties grow dense and full, making them ideal for natural hedges and property boundaries.
  • Seasonal Color & Texture: From evergreen foliage to flowering varieties, shrubs provide visual interest in every season.

Shrubs Grown to Perform in New England

At Pro Growers of New England, our shrubs are grown and maintained locally to perform in true New England conditions. From flowering varieties to evergreen foundation plants, each shrub is properly spaced, pruned, and cared for to develop strong root systems and balanced structure before it ever reaches your landscape.

Unlike large online sellers that ship plants long distances, we invite you to visit our nursery, walk the rows, and inspect the exact shrubs available. You can see the size, health, and fullness in person — ensuring there are no surprises upon delivery.
